Cockaigne. Future Land of Milk and Honey?

until 19. July 2026
Special exhibition in Hall 21 on the 2nd floor.
With Cockaigne, an old term for the Land of Milk and Honey, photo artist Gregor Sailer begins his exhibition by visualizing a long-cherished dream of humankind: food in abundance. The invention of agriculture brought with it in the past the first step towards abundance and, at the same time, the greatest change in human nutrition. Rather than looking back, however, this exhibition instead looks forward and focuses on future changes in food production. Two systems are presented: on the one hand, highly diverse agrosystems requiring much human labor; on the other hand, AI-controlled automated agriculture with standardized organisms and processes and the promise of doing without fossil fuels.
How do we want to shape food production in the future? After all, agriculture is never wilderness; it is always about shaping nature and processes and altering ecosystems to match human needs.
