Barrier-free access

  • The museum is equipped with an elevator and toilets for people with impaired mobility.
  • Wheelchair access: Burgring 7, side entrance.
  • It is possible to borrow a wheelchair.
  • Information about the entrance fees here.

For wheelchair users, there is ground-level access to the elevator via the side entrance at Burgring 7. We ask for your understanding that our staff will be happy to provide help if possible, but there is no guarantee and no entitlement to claim compensation.

Prams can only enter through the main museum entrance at Maria-Theresien-Platz. The museum was ordered to remove a pre-existing ramp so that handrails for the handicapped could be installed. Here, too, our staff will be happy to assist if possible.

Important notice: Due to the current construction of a new visitor elevator to improve barrier-free access, the existing elevator may be closed or delayed on certain days. Please call the NHM staff entrance (Tel. +43-1-52177-205) before your arrival to inquire about the current situation.
