The Natural History Museum Vienna expresses its sincere thanks and appreciation to the outgoing CEO of wienerberger AG, Dr. Heimo Scheuch, for his many years of commitment to biodiversity, the circular economy and the responsible use of natural resources.

The focus was on the claim to improve people's quality of life with innovative solutions for buildings and infrastructure, to use resources responsibly and at the same time to make an active contribution to the protection of climate and biodiversity. These include energy-efficient building solutions, green facades as well as intelligent solutions for rainwater management and the adaptation of our cities to the consequences of climate change.
"Heimo Scheuch has always stressed that the loss of biodiversity over the past 40 years is unprecedented and that wienerberger wants to make an active contribution with its sustainability programme and focus on the protection of local biodiversity. With his presence at the first Taxonomy Recognition Day at the NHM Vienna, he underlined this concern once again", said Director-General Dr. Katrin Vohland, acknowledging his work as Group CEO.
"Under Scheuch's leadership, wienerberger developed a comprehensive biodiversity action plan for its plants and clay pits at an early stage. The aim is to actively promote biodiversity at the sites and to make a measurable contribution to the conservation and restoration of local ecosystems through concrete measures", Vohland continues.
Disused clay pits can provide ideal conditions for the settlement of rare plant and animal species. In order to promote biodiversity, wienerberger cooperates with local partners, including farms and residents.
"Heimo Scheuch was always convinced that sustainable business means creating value for future generations in the long term. His aim was to develop innovative and sustainable solutions that will benefit people for many generations to come. This attitude makes wienerberger an ideal partner of the Natural History Museum Vienna", concludes Vohland.
