Camila Sposati
Camila Sposati (*1972 in Saõ Paulo, lives and works in Vienna) investigates processes of creation and transformation, of the Earth, of elements, of energy, and the social and epistemological systems that shape our experiences of them. Sposati examines social and geological systems from the micro to the macro, from the growth of crystals in controlled laboratories to the movement of the Earth’s crust. She juxtaposes material and historical processes to challenge our perception of nature and its significance.
Her Phonosophia instruments address the reversibility of the role of object and subject, which questions who these agents are and what an “object” is. Specifically, the musical instruments pay special attention to the importance of the body of the musician and the instrument and how these bodies provoke each other.
